Pendants and Charms
All items in this category are made in the same Chinese factories that make the clasps, chain and other findings we don't make. There are very high quality and being sold at about 1/3 the retail price you'd see in a store.
Why is The Ring Lord selling premade jewelry? We are glad you asked...
Items in this category are all about helping you at shows and events you sell at - to easily increase your revenue, get more sales and make more money at the same event with the same amount of effort.
The following is one of the founders of TheRingLord.com about these products.
In the early days of modern chainmail, (the 90's), I was doing what a lot of you do - making chainmail jewelry part time to sell, face to face, at shows, public events, etc. I was pretty successful and was having challenges keeping fully stocked. Having tables that aren't filled with product just wasn't my style. I still had a real job :) as an engineer and I was traveling for work to places like India, Morocco, etc. It was in India I first found my "table padding". I found high quality semi-precious strand necklaces at great prices and thought - "hey - these will help keep my table full and expand my selection". After that I was selling about 3/4 chainmail and 1/4 table padding and the table padding had better margins!
Here are some notes on "table padding":
items you can't make (I'm a chainmaille artist not a caster) that are obviously different than your product but still appeal to the same audience.
items that can actually be used with your product - you make simple chains that would complement a pendant and buy the pendants.
if you have lots of stock, or limited space, at a show always give your table padding the day off and focus on your chainmail.
chainmail isn't for everyone. You will get people who do want to spend money with you but not on chainmail, variety is good.
cover your price points. High end products are good but make sure the guy with $10 to spend can spend it with you.
slow event or lots of competition? Discount your table padding. Discounting product that has your work invested in it sucks, when you feel pressure to discount offer something you didn't make at a smaller (but always positive) profit margin.
