I’ve heard through the grapevine that folks on Facebook, Instagram, and X have been wondering why we’re doing a blog when we already have those platforms.

I see Facebook, Instagram, and X as the mainstream movies—great for sales, shipping updates, product announcements, and the like. The blog, on the other hand, is more like an indie film: a smaller, more personal space for stories that don’t fit into the usual.

For example, I once had the unforgettable experience of spending New Year’s in Bulawayo, Africa, sitting on a thatched roof at sunrise with my ride-or-die cousin and friend L. Below us, a band was playing the song with the line: “I heard it through the grapevine.” Ahh… good moments!
